Foreigner partnerships
The International Development Direction structure consists of an experienced sales project managers whose focus is to drive sales and enhance all commercial partnerships and relationships. This is further complemented by a dedicated middle office team and a business intelligence team.
Utilising our bespoke IT systems, reporting capabilities and return on investment assessments, we are confident that we offer clients a tailored and sophisticated export and import service.
The PMU's international activity is composed of three areas, taking bets from abroad on French races, the sale of associated pictures and data, and foreign races offered to French punters. The PMU is the world's number two horseracing betting operator.
Co mingling
The PMU has also developed 9 common pool partnerships. The total stakes are centralised by the PMU which is a more attractive situation for the punters in countries concerned as they benefit from the total amount wagered on the PMU.
Separate pool partnerships
The PMU has signed agreements with around 30 countries, which are now able to bet on French races. These agreements concern betting in a separate pool. In such cases, the operators register bets for their punters in their own market, using Infocentre and Equidia Pro communication media : Infocentre is the PMU's online database. It supplies foreign partners with racing information vital to betting on French races. Equidia Pro channel is the international version of Equidia. It broadcast pictures of French racing to all partners who have an agreement with the PMU.
Healthy activity of betting on foreign races
In 2009, the range of foreign races once again aroused the enthusiasm of French punters. These races are principally selected among major racing circuits in both disciplines. In total in 2009, no less than 228 races from 21 countries were offered on the PMU to French punters (compared to 174 in 2008).
History
- 1997: First betting offer on foreign races (Dubai, Newmarket, Breeders' Cup).
- 2000: First Classic Tiercé on a foreign race (2000 Guineas - Curragh, Ireland).
- 2004: PMU is the first European operator to offer betting on the Japan Cup.
- 2005 : 2sur4 and Multi are for the first time available on a foreign race (The Champion Stakesin Newmarket, UK).
- 2006: First common pool on British and Irish races on June 20th, 2006 (Royal Ascot).
- 2008: First common pool on Italian Races.
Around 640 prestigious races from 21 countries on the 5 continents have been selected in PMU's 2010 international racing calendar.
